Manda Ortega
In my immediate family I am a first-generation citizen born in the United States and the first to earn a college degree.

Q&A Time!

Q: What’s your hometown and current residence?

A: I’m originally from El Paso, Texas and currently reside there still!

Q: What’s a little-known fact about you?

A: I am 38% Indigenous American, specifically Chiricahua Apache.

Q: Family, pets or hermit?

A: I have 3 dogs (Australian Shepherds, so lots of fur) and a Grey Tabby cat.

Q: Any hobbies?

A: Dancing to music, reading sci-fi novels, watching Marvel/DC shows and movies and going for walks. I also spend hours brushing my dogs—does that count as a hobby?

Q: Do you have a secret to success?

A: Buy a planner, organize your life, create a vision for yourself and make small tangible goals to get there.

Q: What wisdom would you share with others, if only they’d ask?

A: You are your own best friend. Learn to love yourself and all that you come with—the good and the bad.

Q: What makes you unique?

A: I was raised by an ex-cop, so I never sit at a restaurant with my back to the door and usually count the number of people in a room while looking for the closest exits.
